I get asked a lot how I balance everything I do. You can read more about my background and day job over here. Honestly, it does come with a lot of practice. I was not an organized kid/teenager/young adult like most people expect I was (just ask my mom LOL).
One of the best pieces of advice I received my first year of medical school (almost 8 years ago from the time I’m writing this post!) was to actively prioritize the most important things in your life. Then, make time for each of them each week. Set aside dedicated time for those priorities. Last, reflect on how you are spending your time. Are you actually doing each of those three things each week? Reflecting on the fact that you are spending time doing what’s most important to you in life is a game-changer. Really. This, is what I truly believe, has allowed me to find balance in the chaos.
My top three are my faith, my family, and my health. So each week I spend time in my faith. I call my parents. I have dinner with my husband. I exercise consistently and eat my vegetables. I try to drink enough water. Those are just a few ways I prioritize my “top three”.
I’m making a point to talk more on balance around here because I’m realizing that most people just don’t understand how I make time for everything I do! Cheers!
What are your top three? Tell me below!
